Sandy Springs, named for a spring which still runs and is protected by a park, is located approximately 15 miles just north of Atlanta and is served by two major highways- Georgia 400 (runs north and south) and Interstate 285 (runs east and west).  In December 2005, Sandy Springs became a newly-incorporated city situated in Fulton County.  The city embarked on a broad course of privatization with much of its services in the private sector.

Today, the metropolitan Sandy Springs is considered the seventh largest city in Georgia where more than 85,000 residents call this home.  Several Fortune 500/1000 companies call Sandy Springs home, including shipping giant UPS, Beazer Homes, and Newell-Rubbermaid, and Spectrum Brands.   The area is a major medical hub with Northside Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  Because of the major businesses, the population can swell to more than 125,000 during peak business area.

Sandy Springs is another of the metro area’s more affluent areas and is experiencing rapid residential development, particularly in luxury high-rise condominium projects.  Shopping and dining abound either in Sandy Springs or close by at the Perimeter Mall area.
